The name "Orange Slice chair" comes from the two parts of the chair which are reminiscent of two pieces of orange peel next to one another.The frame of the Pierre Paulin Orange Slice chair is made of stainless steel, supported by two identical shells of compressed wood covered with foam.

The original orange slice chair is made of molded plywood with a coated fabric seat and backrest. It is available in many colors and fabrics types: from velvet, curly wools or polyester fabrics. Biography of the french designer Pierre paulin

Pierre Paulin was born on January 7, 1926 in Bourg-la-Reine, a suburb of Paris. After obtaining his degree in architectural studies from the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts in 1948, he pursued his studies at the Sorbonne and graduated with degrees in philosophy and history. In 1953, Pierre Paulin founded his own design company with offices in Paris. In 1955 he became a member of the jury at the International Exhibition of Modern Furniture in New York. In 1957, he designed one of his most famous pieces: 'the orange slice chair'.

Pierre Paulin is also well known for designing products such as lamps and tables.
