The Diiiz reproduction of the Atollo 233 table lamp, also known as the Atollo table lamp, designed by Vico Magistretti for Oluce, is an enduring myth and iconic symbol of Italian design. The shape of this table lamp contributed to its success because the Atollo lamp by designer and architect Vico Magistretti did not represent a total break with the style of the time. The reason for the success of the Atollo 233 lamp lies in its perfect geometric shape. Wouldn’t you agree that it looks like a luminous sculpture with enchanting curves? Nowadays, this iconic Atollo table lamp has established itself over the years and has become an essential decorative object found in many museum collections. The reproduction of the Magistretti lamp is available in either the black Atollo lamp or the gold Atollo lamp model.
This table lamp, designed by Vico Magistretti for Oluce, is available from Diiiz in black or gold. The light from the Atollo lamp is direct and diffused. This lamp is available from Diiiz in two sizes: the small Atollo lamp, which is 35cm high and 25cm in diameter, or the large Atollo lamp, which is 50cm high and 37cm in diameter. The bulb type is E27.
Created by Vico Magistretti in 1977, the Atollo 233 lamp received the Compasso d’Oro design award in 1979. We can, therefore, say that this Atollo lamp created for Oluce is undoubtedly a revisit to the postmodern style of classic bedside lamps and table lamps. With its cone, its cylinder and its hemisphere, there is also a play on the shapes; circle, triangle and square, reminiscent of the painter, decorator and scenographer Oskar Schlemmer. Two of the most famous models: the black Atollo lamp and the gold Atollo lamp are available now on diiiz.com
Despite its size and colour, this iconic lamp didn’t manage to a breakthrough in films or TV, but over time, it has become established as a true design icon. And, even though the Atollo 233 Mushroom Lamp has been part of the MoMA collection in New York since 1979, many people only discovered this Magistretti table lamp during the last Milan expo. The “Atollo Arte” project paid tribute to Vico Magistretti by inviting the artists Enzo Cucchi, Mimmo Paladino, Michelangelo Pistoletto and Ettore Spalletti to reimagine the mushroom lamp and present their own versions of it.
At the end of the day, the Diiiz reproduction of the Atollo 233 lamp is decorative but also restrained, allowing it to integrate into any interior and withstand the test of time. It is a true testament of Italian design, and whether you use it as a table lamp, desk lamp, or bedside lamp, the Atollo lamp will become a centerpiece in your home. Enjoy it now, available from Diiiz!
