« Functional Scandinavian design with simple and elegant shapes. »

Arne Jacobsen is a Danish architect born on the 11 of February 1902.

After training at the Technical College of Copenhagen, he then attended the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts where he studied architecture. In 1930, he created his own agency where he focused on different architecture, decoration, furniture, textile and ceramics projects.

Arne Jacobsen was an advocate for a functional and rational architecture. The style designed by Arne Jacobsen served as a foundation for organic Scandinavian modernism: simplicity, elegance and functionality associated with comfortable and natural materials.

In 1958, he created for the SAS Royal Hotel the Egg chair and the Swan chair, which quickly became essential pieces in the world of modern design.
