Pierre Paulin (1927-2009)

Pierre Paulin was born in Paris in 1927. He graduated from the Camondo school of architecture and design in Paris.

In 1953, Pierre Paulin enjoyed his first success at the Salon des Arts Ménagers. He then worked for the Thonet company       which marketed several of his creations. The distinguishing feature of the Paulin seats is the nature of materials used. The seats are padded with foam and covered with fabrics.
In 1958 he launched the famous Orange Slice and Mushroom chairs in collaboration with the Artifort company.
In 1975 Pierre Paulin set up his own design agency (ADRA) and worked for clients including Dior, the Louvre, Air France and Calor. He left his mark in the 70s and 80s by introducing functional design to the Elysée.
